SEASIDE MINIATURE RAILWAY EXHIBITION

We debuted our first major exhibition in July 2010 on the theme of Seaside Miniature Railways, in a 1000sq ft modern gallery in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire An original concept drawing of the exhibition An original concept drawing of the exhibition

The exhibition is the first major display of the Trust’s work and lasted through until October 2011, with great success.

Having previously been awarded five-figure grants, a positive feasibility study has been carried out to ascertain that a permanent museum is viable in Cleethorpes. A permanent and wide-ranging accredited museum of miniature railways remains the medium-term aim of the Trust.

Museum and visitor attraction experts are being consulted and progress towards museum accreditation is being made: we are fortunate in having a wide base of highly skilled trustees who are professionals in appropriate fields. A curatorial group has been formed with a view to putting in place a framework for collections.

Once we have the support and mechanisms in place, then the MRMT will start the process of acquisition of a cohesive collection for display, curation and interpretation.
